Yeah, so I'm jealous

My sister-in-law called from Hawaii, to tell me (rub it in) that she went swimming with dolphins. That's supposed to be what I get to do. I want to swim with dolphins. I want to swim with whales. I'll even swim with sharks. If I get my legs bitten off, at lest I'll die being close to my beloved marine animals.

I wish I was here, too. Saving beached whales! If this could be my career, I'd make it happen.

I hate heat. Hate it. Hate it.

This heat is kicking my ass all over the place. I'm such a spoiled air-conditioned brat, I can't stand it when it's not on. Last night, my sister and I stayed up until 3:30, because when we tried to go to bed, the sheets were sticking to us. It's humid. And I hate it.

And tonight, if it's hot like this again, I'm turning on the air like the little brat that I am, and I don't care if my dad gets mad at all. It's hot. And I hate it.

Take On Me

Take On Me by MxPx is playing in my head non-stop. I like that song, but I think I'll be sick of it in another hour. In the meantime, I'm trying to figure out whether or not MxPx should have the "Christian Punk" label. They're Christians, and are pretty vocal about it, but few of their songs really reflect values that are distinctly Christian (as opposed to Jewish, American, etc.) Does it really help to even label something "Christian?" What makes music Christian anyway? Is it still Christian if you never mention Christ?

I don't think music should come with religious labels. If it's punk, call it punk. If it's hip-hop, call it hip-hop. The religious themes of the songs or the beliefs of the performers should not separate the music into a different category. At least that's my take on it. I still like MxPx, though, Punk or Christian Punk.

My friends make up for the e-mail dork

I have lived on this planet for two full decades, and yet it still never ceases to amaze me how somebody, who is not even aware of it, can completely flip your outlook on life. How is it even possible that a short voicemail saying I love you or a stupid little e-mail can make the most difficult situation seem like mere nuisance? I don't know. Maybe I'm an idiot, but I can not figure this one out. I have kick ass friends. That's all I'm going to say.

Oh, the audacity

I got an e-mail today:

Actually, no, you did not think of the name first... I have had the name registered with the U.S. office of copyrights since 1997 as a legal business trademark. I suggest that you not make any more comments without the facts!

Okay, first of all sweetie, if you had Sonafide trademarked in 1997, it means you had 4 years to buy the domain before I did, but chose to rest on your laurels instead. If you want a website, you have every right to grab sonafide.org or .net or .whatever, but you can not have sonafide.com. That was paid for, by me, and I own it. I have owned it for over a year. I did not copy the name from your business, and I thought of this name myself.

Second of all, the U.S. Copyright Office does not handle trademarks. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office does. Copyrights have nothing to do with business names. In any case, Sonafide is not the name of any business or organization that I've started; it's the address for my website. I have a question for you, have you ever taken a business ethics class?
